Code of Banking Practice

All banks that are members of the Banking Association of South Africa have voluntarily agreed to adhere to the Code of Banking Practice. This code is not statutory; it is based on self-regulation and serves as a voluntary code of conduct.

The Code of Banking Practice sets out the basic principles in the bank-client relationship. These principles assert a firm commitment to clients, that banks are dedicated to treating them fairly when disputes arise.
