Your ShapID, is unique to you. It is the cellphone number that you use for banking, and is linked to your bank account. It serves the same function as your bank account details, so you can share it to receive payments instead of providing your bank account details.
There are 2 types of ShapIDs:
1. ShapID (full):
At HBZ, you automatically have a ShapID. It is your mobile number used for banking, followed by ‘@hbz’. This is auto-registered and linked to your current or savings account for personal banking. Example of a ShapID: +27-xxxxxxxxx@hbz
If you are multi-banked, you can have a ShapID at each of the banks you bank with.
To change which account is linked to your ShapID, go to ‘Manage ShapID’ in internet banking or ‘PayShap settings’ in your banking app to select the personal bank account in which you want to receive payments when you provide your ShapID for payment. For more information, please visit our Information Centre.
2. Primary ShapID:
It is the cellphone number that you use for banking linked to your current or savings account for personal banking. Example of a Primary ShapID: +27-xxxxxxxxx.
Using a Primary ShapID means you only need to share your cellphone number to get paid instantly. If you are multi-banked, you can have a ShapID at each of the banks you bank with, but you can only have one Primary ShapID.
To set your Primary ShapID with HBZ, you need to select ‘Set HBZ as your Primary ShapID’ in the ‘Manage ShapID’ section in your internet banking or in ‘PayShap Settings’ in your banking app. For more information, please consult the Information Centre.
You can provide your ShapID to receive payments instead of sharing your account number and bank name.
When you share your ShapID for payment, the funds are instantly credited into the bank account linked to your ShapID.
At HBZ Bank, we have already registered your ShapID. It is the cellphone number that you use for banking with ‘@hbz’ (e.g. +27-xxxxxxxxx@hbz) and it is linked to your current/savings account in your personal banking.
